What fish can you substitute for cod?

Cod has a very mild and clean taste. It’s also pretty thick, and the texture is firm. That’s why I love serving it with a rich sauce like the one in this recipe.

But if you can’t find some nice cod fillets to use in this dish, you can easily substitute another kind of white fish!

Haddock, mahi mahi, grouper, pollack, tilapia, or striped bass would all be good substitutes. Just keep in mind that cooking times may vary based on how thick the fillet is.

Storage

If you find yourself with a few extra cod fillets, you’re in luck! They make great leftovers.

Simply store the cod with the garlic butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator. The fish will stay fresh for 3-4 days.
